JMU football’s 2024 recruiting class is one of the best in program history. The Dukes have loaded up on a number of verbally committed three-star players, as they’re expecting to add tremendous talent to the roster.
JMU’s recruits often make plays to help their high school teams win, and I’ll be tracking some of the most notable performances throughout the rest of the fall season. This article will be updated weekly.
Chase Regan, Bishop McDevitt High School (PA), Safety/Wide Receiver
Oct. 6: Regan recorded an ELECTRIC 148 yards and three touchdowns on six catches to defeat Hershey 42-7, leading his team in scoring and receiving yards. Bishop McDevitt has now won 20 consecutive games.
Regan is expected to play safety for the Dukes, and he’s regarded as a three-star prospect by both On3 and 24/7 Sports.
Oct. 13: Regan and Bishop McDevitt had their way with their opponent on Friday night, winning 49-0 over Red Land. Regan caught a pair of touchdown passes in the victory, and the team’s defense held Red Land to 65 total yards and forced five turnovers. Regan continues to be a two-way impact player for his high school.
Ronnell “Mook” Davis, Middletown High School (PA), Safety/Wide Receiver
Oct. 6: Davis recorded two catches for 70 yards on offense, and on defense he dominated Smyrna with a pair of end-zone interceptions and nine tackles, leading Middletown to a 14-12 win. His interceptions were the key plays in securing the narrow victory. Davis is expected to play safety for JMU.
The talented defender is considered a three-star recruit by On3, 24/7 Sports, and Rivals. He chose JMU over notable offers from West Virginia and Duke.
Oct. 13: Davis continues to impress on both sides of the ball. This week he caught a 21-yard touchdown pass to put seven points on the board in a 31-14 win over Hodgson, while also tallying a pair of interceptions. He’s an interception machine.
Immanuel Ezeogu, Nansemond River High School (VA), Linebacker
Oct. 6: Ezeogu had a productive game, recording an acrobatic interception as well as two tackles for loss, and five total tackles in a blowout victory of Hickory.
Ezeogu was offered by Morgan State and Delaware State, among others. While relatively under recruited, Ezeogu is making plays regularly for his high school team.
Mario Landino, Emmaus High School (PA), Defensive Lineman
Oct. 13: Landino had his most productive game of the season, physically dominating the opposing line. The defensive lineman recorded 13 total tackles — MaxPreps credited him with 20 tackles because why not — including six tackles for loss, and one sack.
He also contributed to the win on special teams with a blocked punt, leading his team to a 5-3 record on the year. They’ve won four consecutive games after a 1-3 start to their season.
Keenan Phillips, Bainbridge High School (GA), Running back
Editor’s note: There’s some discrepancy around Phillips’ status as a commit. Following his announcement on Instagram, it was reported by Shane Mettlen of the DNR that he didn’t have a committable offer with JMU. He’s not listed as an official commitment on any national recruiting site, but his Instagram post announcing his commitment remains up.
Oct. 6: Phillips rushed for two touchdowns and 128 yards in a Thursday Night Football matchup against Westover.
Oct. 13: Phillips scored three times on Friday in a 49-7 performance over Shaw High School. Keenan rushed nine times for 115 yards and three touchdowns, leading Bainbridge in rushing yards and touchdowns. He also had one reception for 15 yards.
