Best Twitter bio – Track & field star Olivia Viparina’s Twitter bio includes the hashtag #DontForgetTheBoringSports. While much of the media coverage this weekend revolved around JMU women’s basketball and even JMU football spring practices, Viparina and company were putting in work at two different meets. Viparina won the 3000m steeplechase at the Fred Hardy Invitational. Other Dukes competed in the Raleigh Relays.

Weekend summary – The Dukes posted a few ECAC qualifying times. According to JMU’s website, “JMU now has two relays and three individuals in four events qualified for the ECAC Championships.”

That’s a good thing. The team posted solid performances all weekend long, with Viparina’s win headlining the finishes. In addition to Viparina’s success, Dominique Johnson was fantastic. Johnson recorded a shot put mark of 13.68m. She had already posted an ECAC-qualifying mark.

Up next – The Colonial Relays at William & Mary begin on April 5.
