JMU men’s basketball will host a pair of special guests this week, when Preston Fowler and Christian Brown visit Harrisonburg. The two class of 2025 recruits are strongly considering joining the Dukes for the 2025-26 season and beyond. Fowler would become the highest-rated recruit to ever commit to JMU’s men’s basketball program, if he chooses to join Preston Spradlin and the Dukes.
Fowler told JMU Sports News he’ll be on campus Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, while Brown says he’s visiting Thursday and Friday.
24/7 Sports ranks Fowler as a four-star recruit, and the recruiting website considers him to be a top-125 prospect nationally. The Dukes have never landed a four-star recruit, according to 24/7 Sports’ all-time rankings. Andre Nation, who was a three-star prospect, is ranked as the best commitment ever secured by the Dukes’ men’s basketball team. Former JMU star Terrence Edwards Jr. was also rated as a three-star recruit by 24/7 Sports when he committed to the Dukes. The now-Louisville player was the third-highest recruit to ever commit to JMU. He led JMU to an NCAA Tournament win over Wisconsin last season, while also winning Sun Belt Player of the Year Honors.
Fowler, a 6’8 small forward from Connecticut, has received notable offers from Oklahoma State, Penn State, and Wake Forest.
Brown isn’t listed as a four-star recruit, but 24/7 Sports lists the talented Tennessee prospect as a three-star player. He’s received scholarship offers from quality mid-major programs, including App State and Murray State. Like Fowler, Brown is a 6’8 small forward.
JMU also finds itself in the mix to land the commitment of four-star prospect Jamarion Davis-Fleming. The center from Mississippi lists JMU, LSU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss as his top four choices. 24/7 Sports reported that Davis-Fleming plans to visit JMU from Sept. 27-29, the same weekend the football program hosts Ball State for Family Weekend.
Landing any of the three high-school recruits would be significant for Spradlin and JMU.
