JMU women’s basketball’s 2024-25 schedule was officially announced Monday, and the Dukes will play one of the better nonconference schedules in the country. The slate is headlined by a Dec. 8 home game with Texas, which won the Big 12 and made the Elite Eight last season. 

In addition to facing Texas, the Dukes have notable road games with Notre Dame, VCU, Villanova, and NC State. The Wolfpack made the Final Four last year, and they’re consistently one of the best programs in the ACC. That road contest will take place on Dec. 19. 

JMU also plays Florida in a neutral site game, although the contest is in Florida and should feel more like a road contest.

The schedule ensures JMU will be battle tested by the time Sun Belt games begin on Dec. 29. The Dukes might have a handful of losses before January, but if they’re able to secure an upset or two of Power programs, they could be in the mix for an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. At the very least, the schedule should be entertaining for fans throughout the entire season. 

Sean O’Regan’s team returns a special lineup, including Peyton McDaniel and Kseniia Kozlova. The Dukes have eight players who are either redshirt juniors or older, and all of them are likely to play a part in the team’s rotation. JMU should be one of the most experienced and talented mid-major programs in the country in 2024-25.
