Road games – JMU (10-3, 2-0 CAA) faces a pair of road contests this weekend. JMU plays Drexel today and Hofstra on Sunday in two more CAA matchups.
Drexel – The Dragons are just 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the CAA. They’re nothing special, and it’d be surprising to see anything other than a JMU victory. Drexel is respectable offensively, as it leads the CAA in shot percentage (percentage of shots that result in goals), but that’s more a product of a lackluster schedule than it is a remarkable offense.
Hofstra – The Pride are the best CAA team not named JMU. At 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the CAA, Hofstra poses an interesting test. It leads the CAA in scoring and draw controls per game. The Dukes thrive by playing stellar defense and winning draw controls. JMU still enters this game as the favorite, but a road contest against a respectable Hofstra team is actually a good test for JMU. I expect JMU to win but could see Hofstra staying within 3-5 goals.
Up next – Elon and William & Mary come to Harrisonburg next weekend for the final regular season games of the year.
