JMU football (8-2, 4-2 SBC) hits the road to face App State (4-5, 2-4 SBC) in a rivalry game. There are significant Sun Belt East stakes for the Dukes, who need two wins and one Georgia Southern loss to win the division.

Saturday’s game isn’t on national TV, but the game can be streamed on ESPN+. David Jackson is the play-by-play announcer, and former App State LB Avery Hall will handle analyst duties.

The Dukes will kick off at 2:30 p.m. in Boone, North Carolina, and the weather should be nasty. There’s a chance of rain showers (it snowed in Boone leading up to Saturday’s game) and it’s expected to be blustery. Winds of 20-30 mph are expected, with gusts even higher. Passing the ball could be a challenge in the weather. It’ll also be cold, with highs in the upper 30s.

App State’s rushing defense has been a liability this year, and head coach Shawn Clark could lose his job at the end of the season. Still, JMU can’t take anything for granted in a rivalry matchup against a storied Sun Belt program. It’s hard to win games in Boone. The weather complicates things, although the strength of JMU’s offense is the running game. Look for the Dukes to lean on the run Saturday in windy conditions, giving George Pettaway and Wayne Knight a heavy workload.
