Three weekend wins – JMU (36-7, 14-1 CAA) beat the College of Charleston easily in all three games this weekend. The Dukes’ winning streak is up to eight games.
Game 1 – Odicci Alexander fanned 10 in the Dukes’ 7-0 beatdown of the Cougars.
Game 2 – Megan Good struck out nine in the Dukes’ 6-1 victory.
Game 3 – Alexander allowed just one hit and struck out four in JMU’s 16-0 mercy-rule victory. The Dukes hit a pair of grand slams in the triumph.
Pitching rules the day – Across 19 innings pitched, Alexander and Good struck out 23 batters and allowed only one run. The Dukes’ pitching staff makes them a scary postseason team, and this weekend showed why teams in the NCAA Tournament field will hope to avoid the Dukes.
Up next – JMU hosts Virginia for a Tuesday doubleheader before Drexel comes to town for a weekend series.
