Mercy, please! – JMU beat Longwood 14-1 in a six-inning mercy rule victory before slacking off (just kidding) and taking the full seven innings to beat the Lancers 10-2 in the second game of the Wednesday doubleheader. Before the 10-2 win, the Dukes had won six consecutive games via the mercy rule.

The Dukes are on fire – Just how impressive have the Dukes been over the last seven games? We’ll let the numbers tell the story:

Runs scored – 92
Runs allowed – 10
Hits – 80
Home runs – 20
Hits allowed – 16

JMU is pitching well, hitting well and playing solid defense. This team is playing at a remarkably high level, and its current competition isn’t anywhere close. Expect JMU to continue annihilating opponents in the immediate future.

Up next – Elon (16-10-1) visits Harrisonburg this weekend for a three-game series. The Phoenix are one of the better CAA teams, so we’ll learn a bit about how much better JMU is than the rest of the CAA field this weekend.
