Dukes fall to No. 2 Maryland – The Terrapins controlled the game, beating JMU 18-5. It wasn’t a great effort from the Dukes (7-3), although Maryland is a national title contender.

Losing to top teams – In three games against top-10 teams, the Dukes are 0-3 with a goal differential of -29. In seven games against teams outside the top 10, the Dukes are 7-0 with a +50 goal differential. JMU is a solid team, but this year’s team won’t be winning the national title.

High expectations – The expectations surrounding this team were a bit too high. With the amount of talent JMU lost, it’s hard to expect this team to be a national title threat. JMU is a solid NCAA Tournament team, but making a deep run is going to be a challenge.

Up next – JMU hopes to end its two-game losing streak when it hosts San Diego State (8-3) on Saturday.
