Dominating the competition – We’ve long said JMU lacrosse is well above the CAA competition, and that belief held true over the weekend. JMU (10-3, 2-0 CAA) beat Delaware 10-3 on Friday before beating Towson 11-7 on Sunday.
Friday at Delaware – Molly Dougherty had herself a game. Despite being outshot 26-21 by the Blue Hens, the Dukes won 10-3. Dougherty recorded 15 saves, which was the key to JMU’s victory. A superb individual performance led to a blowout victory on Friday.
Sunday vs. Towson – JMU opened up the game with an 8-2 lead before slowing down and allowing a few late goals in its 11-7 win. Dougherty had 10 saves in this game, giving her 25 across the first two CAA contests of the season.
Up next – JMU plays on the road at Drexel (6-6, 1-1 CAA) and Hofstra (9-4, 1-1 CAA) next week. The Dukes hope to finish the year strong with several winnable CAA games.
