Dismantling Drexel – The Dukes (12-3, 4-0 CAA) had no problem dispatching Drexel on Friday. JMU won 19-9, and the Dragons never made it close.

Head-to-head with Hofstra – This game wasn’t as easy. It took the Dukes two overtimes to get by the Pride. JMU won the game 9-8 on a goal from Maddie McDaniel. Hofstra is the second-best team in the CAA, so this is a quality win for JMU. Credit Molly Dougherty for another stellar effort in goal. JMU was outshot 36-24, but still won.

Cause for concern? Fans shouldn’t be worried about JMU’s close call with Hofstra. While the offense still needs to get better, there’s no shame in beating a quality team on the road in double overtime. The Dukes don’t look like national title contenders, but they’re solidly in the NCAA Tournament picture.

Up next – The Dukes host Elon and William & Mary to close the regular season.
