First NCAA Tournament – For the first time in program history, JMU women’s tennis is in the NCAA Tournament. The Dukes face No. 5 Duke on Saturday.

Expectations are low – Dukes is really good, and JMU isn’t expect to advance. The Blue Devils are a top team nationally, and the experience of playing against a power program will benefit the younger Dukes.

Importance – Regardless of the outcome, making the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history is a big deal. The Dukes should be thrilled with the season they’ve had, and they have nothing to lose against Duke. Expect the team to fight hard, even if the outcome isn’t quite what they want.

Building block – The program has gotten better in recent years and making the NCAA Tournament is a step forward. Head coach Shelly Jaudon and company hope to use this as momentum heading into future seasons.
