JMU football took down Arkansas State 42-20 last weekend, improving to 5-0 and breaking into the AP top 25 poll. How’s that for a start to the FBS era?
Jack and Bennett break down that win and discuss much more in this week’s roundtable discussion.
JMU is 5-0 after a nice win over Arkansas State. Share one takeaway from the victory.
Bennett: Taurus Jones! The linebacker finished with 13 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a sack in JMU’s 42-20 victory. We’ve (rightfully) talked a lot about Jailin Walker and the defensive line, which often leads to Jones flying under the radar. He was a stud against the Red Wolves, and he’s been solid all season. Jones is one of the more productive linebackers in the Sun Belt.
Jack: Todd Centeio is truly cementing his spot as Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year. He looks like the best QB in the Sun Belt by leaps and bounds. He is currently the second most efficient passer, third in touchdowns and fifth in completion percentage.
Against Arkansas State Centeio passed for 394 yards, 4 touchdowns and looked lethal. Each game Centeio is getting better as he gets more comfortable in the system. He is the key cog for this offense, the running backs are great but it is Centeio’s play and decision making that is truly what has made JMU into a nationally ranked team and it was on full display vs. the Red Wolves.
