Ro Scott, Marshall women’s basketball’s leading scorer in 2022-23, will transfer to JMU. The program officially announced the news Tuesday.
The 2024-25 season will be Scott’s final season of eligibility, and she’ll add a potent scoring option to a JMU team expecting to lose at least Hevynne Bristow and Carole Miller to graduation in the offseason. Scott averaged 17.4 points per game for Marshall last season, before appearing in six games this year and then entering the portal.
The 5’8” guard should complement JMU’s key backcourt scoring threats in Peyton McDaniel and Jamia Hazell.
“Excited to add an outstanding piece to our family,” head coach Sean O’Regan said in a release. “Ro is a high-level scorer that will fit right into our culture. It was great getting to know her in the recruiting process, and I’m pumped to have her on board.”
While Scott brightens JMU’s outlook in 2024-25, the Dukes still have plenty left to play for this season. They’re 18-9 on the year and currently in position to earn a top-4 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament with four games left in the regular season.
