JMU Men’s Basketball Sets Up A Date With George Mason

By Jack Fitzpatrick

It appears that James Madison Men’s Basketball has put a game with George Mason on its calendar for this upcoming season. The game is scheduled to be played on Friday, November 29 at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.

Per Jon Rothstein, the Dukes and the Patriots signed a home-and-home contract. The first game of the contract will occur this season, and the return game up in Fairfax, VA will occur next season.

This matchup will be the first time these two teams have met since November of 2021 when JMU took down George Mason 67-64, the previous four games from 2016-2019 were all George Mason wins.

The two teams first met in 1970, a 116-82 JMU win, and across the 96 all-time games both teams have 48 wins.

This announcement makes the non conference schedule look a bit more clear. Earlier in the offseason it was announced that JMU Men’s Basketball would play in the Boardwalk Battle in Daytona Beach, an event featuring Toledo, Stetson, UIC, East Caroline, La Salle, Jacksonville State and UC San Diego. Along with an away game against Towson, a game at Wake Forest, and Ohio playing at JMU as part of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
