Two charges against JMU tight end KD Mosley have been dropped, according to Harrisonburg/Rockingham General District Court records.

Mosley, a transfer tight end from Howard, was arrested in February on two assault-and-battery charges and a charge of possessing a fictitious ID. A video of the alleged incident circulated on social media.

In May, prosecutors entered nolle prosequi — meaning they declined to pursue those charges — on one assault-and-battery charge and the charge of possessing a fictitious ID.

The remaining assault-and-battery charge was amended to disorderly conduct. That charge received a deferred disposition, meaning the court postponed a final judgment while Mosley complies with court-ordered conditions. Another hearing on the disorderly conduct charge is scheduled for Nov. 10. 

“JMU Athletics can confirm that KD Mosley is active on the football roster,” a team spokesperson said in a statement. “Disciplinary action has been handled internally in line with policy.”

It’s unclear if that internal disciplinary action includes a suspension.

Mosley is expected to be one of the Dukes’ top tight ends this coming season, perhaps serving as the primary backup to fellow transfer Cole Keller. The junior has three years of eligibility remaining after catching 14 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns in nine games for Howard last season.

JMU opens its season on Sept. 5 against Liberty.
