Weekend sweep – JMU rolled through Delaware in three games to finish the regular season with a 44-7 overall record and a 20-1 CAA record.

Game 1 – JMU won 5-1. Pitching was the story, as Odicci Alexander allowed one run in five efficient innings of work. Payton Buresch came in for two perfect innings of relief.

Game 2 – JMU won 7-1. Megan Good was special. She threw a complete game and struck out 10 across seven innings. At the plate, Good led the team with two runs scored.

Game 3 – JMU won 15-5. The Dukes actually trailed 5-2 before scoring the final 13 runs of the game. Odicci Alexander struggled in the circle, but Good came in to throw 5 1/3 shutout innings of relief. She struck out 10. While Alexander struggled pitching, she went 3-4 and drove in a team-high four runs. She didn’t let a subpar day in the circle affect her hitting, and that’s a good sign for any player.

CAA Tournament – The Dukes enter as the heavy favorite to win the double-elimination tournament, which starts Wednesday in Harrisonburg.

We’ll preview the championship game, assuming JMU is in it, in Friday’s newsletter.
