Another game, another loss –  We’re running out of fingers to count JMU’s losing streak! The Dukes are (18-16, 2-7 CAA) losers of eight in a row. That’s not good. A 9-3 loss to Virginia took three hours and 33 painful minutes. The Dukes were down 4-1 after two innings and 8-2 after five innings. The game was slow and never all that close.

Will the misery end? Maybe. The Dukes face William & Mary (20-12, 4-5 CAA) in Williamsburg for a three-game weekend series starting today. JMU needs to start winning if it wants to earn a spot in the CAA Tournament by earning a top-6 seed. It currently ranks seventh, and the Tribe hold the sixth spot based on CAA winning percentage.

JMU is capable of beating the Tribe, but the eight-game losing streak has to be wearing on the team’s confidence. If the Dukes can stay engaged and pick up a few wins, they can get this season back on track. That’s proving to be easier said than done.
