Two good wins – JMU (33-7, 11-1 CAA) beat Duke 11-3 and 6-5 in a Wednesday doubleheader. The Blue Devils ranked 80th in the RPI coming into this week, which means these wins aren’t great for JMU, but they are top-100 RPI wins. That’s not a bad thing, although it won’t move the needle too much for the Dukes. JMU ranks 13th in the RPI.

Game 1 – JMU cruised to an 11-3 mercy-rule wins in six innings. Six different Dukes drove in runs, and Odicci Alexander earned her 14th victory in the circle. Payton Buresch pitched well in relief.

Game 2 – The Dukes trailed 5-3 after three innings, but used a few huge RBIs from Alexander to pick up a 6-5 win. One of those RBIs came on a no-doubt home run that tied the game. Megan Good broke Jailyn Ford’s program record for career strikeouts. Good is up to 820 in her career. Ford had 815.

Up next – JMU hosts the College of Charleston for a three-game series this weekend.
